A new study from Columbia University in New York shows that cannabis can help reduce opioid deaths.
States that have medical marijuana see a 20% drop in opioid prescriptions.
That means doctors are now willing to prescribe cannabis for pain management. And patients may be requesting cannabis instead of highly addictive opioids.
The study found that medical marijuana reduced the prescribing of 144,000 daily opioid doses.
It's clear that states with medical marijuana programs are better positioned to overcome the opioid crisis.
