The Fed "easy money" narrative overshadows everything else this week with the FED's interest rate announcement coming on Wednesday. The biggest questions are whether there will be a 0.5% rate cut instead of an 0.25% cut, and what the Fed will say in their statement about the state of the U.S. and global economies. Earnings season is in full swing, with some more big names coming in this week. There have been really bad (NFLX) and monstrously good (GOOGL) reports so far, with the edge going to a modestly better than expected earnings season so far. Earnings #1: Apple (AAPL) reports on Tuesday after the close. The tech giant and world's second largest company (by market cap) will have the entire market's attention when it releases its Q3 2019 earnings report. As iPhone sales have slowed over the last year, analyst will place even more emphasis on the numbers from Apple's push into services. With expectations relatively low, any earnings beats could be enough to give the stock a nice pop. Earnings #2: Qualcomm (QCOM) - Wednesday after the close. Investors will want to keep an eye on QCOM's commentary on the trade war, as the company derives more than 60% of its revenue from China. A number of chip makers reported earnings beats last week, but it is unclear just how much the trade war affected QCOM's bottom line. QCOM could be buoyed by the payment from Apple as part of their licensing dispute settlement. Earnings #3: Procter & Gamble (PG) - The household and personal products manufacturer took a big leap up this morning after reporting a healthy fourth quarter earnings report. Most significantly, PG's earnings per share of $1.10 on revenue of $17.09 billion beat analyst estimates of $1.05 on revenue of $16.86 billion. Forward-looking guidance was also strong, with expected sales for 2019 coming in ahead of consensus estimates. Great trading and God bless you, D.R.
