Why China doesn't stand a chance in this trade war

Bill Bonner's Diary

Bill Bonner's Diary Reader,

"I want 5G [...] as soon as possible."

— President Donald Trump

President Trump's message makes it clear: 5G is becoming a matter of national importance.

Trump is at war with one of the world's largest companies...

But I'm not talking about the household tech giants we usually think of.

I'm talking about Huawei, the Chinese telecom behemoth.

And 5G could be one of the main players behind why the world's largest economy has started a trade war.

Just look at the evidence...

  • Last May, the Pentagon ordered stores on U.S. military bases to stop selling phones made by Huawei. The government said they could be a "security risk."
  • Last July, Trump blocked a tech merger between Qualcomm and Broadcom. The government said it was a matter of national security.
  • Broadcom has roots in Singapore. It's heavily influenced by the Chinese. The fear was that Broadcom would cut Qualcomm's research budget. Huawei could fill the void.
  • And in December, Huawei's CFO was arrested in Canada. The U.S. now requests her extradition to America.

The completion of the 5G wireless network is essential if America is to maintain its economic dominance over countries like China. That's why the president and companies are pulling out all the stops to get the network built. And as 5G revolutionizes our communications networks, it could also send a handful of companies soaring.

Fact is, this one technology will determine who is the superpower of tomorrow.

99% of people will pass this story by.

I urge you not to be one of them.

If you care about America's future as a world superpower, you need to see this prediction.

Sincerely,
