| | | | What an amazing turn of events in the cryptocurrency world this weekend...
Just like that, a single tweet can upend the price action of an investment at an instant.
If you're not familiar, Tesla's Elon Musk merely responded to a Twitter user who tweeted,"Bitcoiners are going to slap themselves next quarter when they find out Tesla dumped the rest of their #bitcoin holdings. With the amount of hate @elonmusk is getting, I wouldn't blame him..."
To which he replied, "Indeed."
And almost immediately, Bitcoin dropped and took a large portion of the crypto market with it...
This is a great lesson for traders and investors.
Because no matter how great the setup or how solid the fundamentals, there's always the unknown... or else I'd put all my money on a single trade...
But you can make better decisions so long as you've got an edge with the right information...
Dr. Moors always seems to have an edge when it comes to the Energy sector and today, he's got a few items you'll want to take note of.
Read it below.
Keep moving, | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | George's Bargain, "Thems" Earnings, DVD Machine SPAC
-
Sight for Soros Eyes - While Viacom (VIAC) and Discovery Inc. (DISCA) investors ran for cover during the Bill Hwang/Archegos Capital Management debacle, legendary fund manager George Soros was busy scooping up cheap shares. The most recent 13F filing by Soros Fund Management shows that his firm bought close to $400 million worth of shares in an assortment of companies that fell during the sell-off, including 600,000 shares of Discovery Inc. and over four million of Viacom. Thanks for the discount, Bill.

Hims & Hers & Earnings - Who said all SPACs were scams? Hims & Hers Health Inc. (HIMS) has traded lower since going public via SPAC merger with Oaktree Acquisition Corp. (OAC), but the latest earnings report shows that the company is for real. Originally known for being a male sexual wellness company offering testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and hair loss treatments, the company has expanded its services to focus on females as well. The subscription based model showed an 80% increase in new patients year-over-year with a 74% growth in revenue. Even Vince McMahon is impressed by the results:
| | | | | - SPACs With Late Fees - Investors eagerly waited for the pending news on Seaport Global Acquisition Corp. (SGAM) early this morning as trading was halted until 8:30 AM EST. The big news? Apollo Global Management-owned Redbox will be merging with Seaport Global and plans to trade on the NASDAQ under ticker symbol RDBX. Although the company has opened up its offerings to more than just DVD vending machines, some investors are hesitant to buy in due to the fact that close to 60% of shares will be owned by existing sharedumpersholders.
- Shark Week Merger - Shares of Discovery (DISCA) began ripping in pre-market trading today on news that AT&T (T) will be WarnerMedia with Discovery. The spinoff of WarnerMedia for the merger is said to be one of the biggest deals in the streaming television space as the new company would be a close competitor to both Disney (DIS) and Netflix (NFLX) as WarnerMedia already owns HBO Max. Add Shark Week to the mix and you've got a winner.

| | | | | HOT SPOTS: What's going on in geopolitics
| | | - IDF Strikes Media Building In Gaza - The Israel Defense Force knocked out a building that hosted media outlets including the Associated Press. While many journalists expressed outrage, the IDF says that the building was known to host assets of the terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The AP has denied any knowledge that these groups hosted offices there. The war of words and over global public opinion is becoming another front in the Israeli/Palestinian clash.
- Conflict Goes Worldwide: Throughout the world, various demonstrators supporting one side or the other in the conflict have been protesting or even brawling in Western cities. In Germany, there were reported incidents of Israeli flags being burned outside synagogues. In Toronto, pro-Israel protesters were reportedly assaulted. Pro-Palestinian marches were held in London, Paris, Madrid and other cities.
- Venezuelan Government Seizes Independent Newspaper: President Nicolas Maduro's socialist government seized the headquarters of one of the country's few independent newspapers. A leader in the country's governing Socialist Party says that the building may be used to host a new pro-regime communications school. International human rights groups have denounced the seizure and the paper's publisher vows that it will continue its work online.
| | | | | CUTTING EDGE: What's Happening In Tech- Genetically Modified Mosquitos Are Among Us - If this goes well, it means an effective new way to stop the spread of disease-causing mosquitos. If it doesn't, well, it's just another genetically modified organism loose in the wild. What's the worst that can happen? Oxitec's modified mosquitos are at breeding age and in the Florida Keys. If all goes according to plan, it will mean achieving a dramatic reduction in mosquito numbers by essentially purging half the next generation's female larvae. The modified mosquitos can target only a small number of population groups present even just within the Keys, so this is a test more than anything else.
- FDA Warning: Keep Cell Phones Away From Pacemakers - The FDA is adding another warning to the list of things you have to keep track of. Make sure your new cell phone is far away from an implanted pacemaker or defibrillator. The danger is that newer cell phones have stronger magnets that could interfere with the function of these devices.
- Let Them Fight - China has successfully landed a rover on Mars, accomplishing in a remarkably short time what it took the United States decades to do. The "Zhurong" craft (named after a Chinese fire god) joins NASA's Perseverance on Mars. This might be the sneak preview of a new Space Race. However, NASA sounded a conciliatory note, hailing China's accomplishment and expressing excitement about "the important contributions this mission will make to humanity's understanding of the Red Planet."
| | | | | | | | | By the ancient laws of combat, let the rovers fight to see who owns Mars | | | | | FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
"That amounted to what was then a prohibitive 14.5 percent annualized interest rate for what the bank admitted was a preferred customer. I told the client we could get a better rate from Tony Soprano."
Oil futures are volatile enough already. However, energy expert Dr. Kent Moors identifies a new factor that will make them even more unstable. Read this and consider yourselves warned.
| | | | | | | | | | | The bankruptcy buyout trade is fun if you're early and even better if you got into Hertz (OTC:HTZGQ)...
This is more of a hindsight look at the chart than anything, but it shows a couple of things to watch for when going long.
To the left, you see the arrow drawn alongside the 200-day simple moving average (green) as it swoops down towards the price action. If you follow it, eventually it comes to a golden cross with the 50sma crossing above the 200sma noted by the gray bubble.
The gray rectangle shows that the ~$2.10 area acted as resistance for some time with repeated failures to break above until after the golden cross, signaling a buy opportunity.
At this point the stock has run as high as $7.30, but before you jump in, the recent deal announcement states that shareholders could receive $7 to $8 per share...
My guess is that this will continue trading sideways for now.
