According to court filings, President Biden's student loan debt relief scheme, which attempts to forgive hundreds of billions of dollars owed by tens of millions of borrowers, suffered another setback Wednesday when a federal appeals court dismissed his request to restart it.
The Biden administration's student loan handout intends to forgive $10,000 in federal student loans per borrower and double that for PELL grant recipients, but it will remain on hold after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans denied the administration's request to lift a stay imposed on the program by a lower district court in Texas.
In court filings filed Wednesday, the three-judge bench unanimously decided not to overturn a Nov. 10 ruling by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman, who declared the student loan distributions illegal and temporarily suspended them. |
