BUSINESS AND MARKETS
Popular southern fast food chain Bojangles made the decision to close its doors for two days to give employees a break. Only the company-owned locations would close for August 30 and September 13.
A total of 276 restaurants were affected by the closure. The company explained that employees had been stretched thin due to staffing shortages and it wanted to give all of them "a well-deserved break" that would support their "physical and mental well-being."
"From navigating a global pandemic, to adjusting to new safety measures, to picking up shifts for those unable to come in for work, we've asked, and they've delivered," company CEO Jose Armario said about his staff.
What else did the company's CEO have to say about the restaurant chain's bold move?
TIRED OF OFFICE POLITICS?
Image Source: NBC News Monday marked the official end to the war in Afghanistan, as the last US military plane and troops flew out of the country. But as many celebrated their homecoming and the war's end, it was revealed that Americans who wanted to come home were left behind.
"We believe there are still a small number of Americans, under 200 and likely closer to 100, who remain in Afghanistan and want to leave. We're trying to determine exactly how many," Secretary of State Antony Blinken explained.
The revelation comes on the heels of President Biden's promise to Americans who were in Afghanistan that anyone who wanted to leave would be brought home. US Central Command leader Marine Corps Gen. Frank McKenzie said no Americans (other than troops) were brought home on the final five flights, in spite of possibly hundreds left waiting to evacuate.

Iranian prosecutors have opened an investigation against six guards at the country's Evin prison after leaked footage showed broad abuses.
WEATHER UPDATE
Image Source: CDN Human-caused climate change is making hurricanes more dangerous. They produce more rainfall, move slower once they make landfall, and generate larger storm surges along the coast. Hurricane Ida was a prime example of those changes, and scientists say storms like this will become more common as the planet warms.
Hurricanes — also called tropical cyclones or typhoons outside North America — are being made more intense by the warming ocean, which studies have shown has absorbed approximately 90% of the planet's excess heat trapped by human-produced greenhouse gas emissions.
