We know from our research that markets tend to form highs and lows at, on or around the same price points.

And from a daily chart perspective, we can see clearly that the Light Crude Oil (CL) futures market has formed a series of lows at the bottom of its up channel and a series of highs at the top of the channel.

The market is currently at a low price near the bottom of the channel and heading higher, so we're looking at playing CL on the long side.

But first, we need to turn to the hourly chart to see how much risk we're really taking on. If the risk is too high, it may be a better idea to wait for a lower price to buy.

I covered the CL market in much more detail in today's video, so click here to get the full rundown on this week's idea…

WORDS TO TRADE BY

"Fear incites human action far more urgently than does the impressive weight of historical evidence."

- Jeremy Siegel

The market reacts to institutional pressure. That means there's a lot of moving parts and thousands of people involved.

Unfortunately, fear is one of the most significant driving forces in investing. That's because the fear of losing money often overrides the optimism of making a profit.

But just because the market is susceptible to fear doesn't mean you can't trade during those times of uncertainty.

Use your trading plan to find opportunities even during a downturn. Just be sure to remain vigilant while watching your trades.

Hypothetical or Simulated Results

Our educational products rely upon hypothetical or simulated performance results. These results have certain inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Also, because these trades have not actually been executed, these results may have under-or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated or hypothetical trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown.
