This week, my wife Carole and I have been riveted by news coverage of Hurricane Ian, as the massive storm wreaks havoc on Florida. At one point my spouse commented: "The key in these situations is not to panic." To which I muttered: "Yeah, don't panic. Unless the Weather Channel shows up in your town." Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of hurricanes and other extreme weather events. Hurricane Ian is the latest example. As of this writing, more than 2.5 million customers across Florida were without power, as they contend with flooding and damaged homes. At one point as a Category 4 hurricane, Ian battered southwest Florida with winds of up to 150 miles per hour.
