Stocks Up On Friday, Dow And S&P Finish At New All-Time High Closes Image: Bigstock Stocks soared on Friday with both the Dow and the S&P finishing at new all-time high closes. And they both closed higher for the week. YTD, all of the major indexes are in the green with the Dow up 8.06%, the S&P up 5.82%, the Nasdaq up 1.94%, and the Russell 2000 up 12.49%. With forecasts for big growth this year, it looks like the move up has only just begun. In addition to the historic pent-up demand that's being unleashed as more of our country and economy opens up, we've also got the additional $1.9 trillion stimulus, and a proposed $3 trillion infrastructure package likely on the way. (More details on the latter are expected on Friday.) That's a lot of money that will generate a lot of economic growth. And stocks are expected to soar because of it. It doesn't hurt either that Consumer Sentiment keeps rising as well, gaining another 1.9 points or 2.29% at 84.9. We've got a full schedule of economic reports this week, culminating in the always important Employment Situation report on Friday. But it will be a shortened trading week, as the markets are closed for Good Friday. Stocks are off to a great start this year. But it looks like the best is yet to come. So make sure you're taking full advantage of it. See you tomorrow, Kevin Matras Executive Vice President, Zacks Investment Research |
