Yesterday's selloff (on softening inflation data, of all thing) and today's snapback rally prove there's really no limit on how irrational a market can get. I'm reminded of two cliches - good ones, though. One is an anonymous sentiment, the other comes from economist John Maynard Keynes: "Overbought can always become more overbought." "Markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent." In other words, the price action of the past two sessions has an iffy relationship with economic reality, but it doesn't matter. What matters, when you're trying to build a solid retirement foundation in this market, are favorable technicals and capital rotation.
